EESC Unveils Skills Portability Initiative for Workers

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) has introduced the 'Skills Portability Initiative,' a strategy aimed at removing barriers to the free movement of workers. This initiative focuses on ensuring that professional qualifications and skills are more easily recognized across all EU member states. By simplifying these cross-border processes, the EU hopes to fill critical labor shortages and make the Union more attractive to international talent. The proposal highlights that a truly integrated single market requires seamless labor mobility without current bureaucratic hurdles. It forms part of a broader package intended to improve fair labor mobility for European citizens and global specialists.
