First EU Report Shows Cyber Threats to Financial Sector
The three European Supervisory Authorities (EBA, EIOPA, and ESMA) have published their first-ever report on major ICT-related incidents in the EU's financial sector. The report, mandated by the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), provides an overview of cybersecurity breaches and IT failures reported by banks, insurers, and investment firms. It highlights key vulnerabilities and trends, serving as a baseline for strengthening the digital resilience of the entire financial system. The authorities will use the findings to guide their supervisory focus and enhance protective measures.
For the first time, the EU is publicly tracking major cyberattacks on the financial system.
