EMA Panel Issues New Safety Info for Contraceptives
The European Medicines Agency's safety committee (PRAC) has agreed on new safety information for contraceptives containing desogestrel and etonogestrel. The update addresses potential risks and provides clearer guidance for healthcare professionals and patients. These hormonal contraceptives are widely used across the EU for birth control. The PRAC's recommendations will now be forwarded to the EMA's human medicines committee for a final opinion before the product information is updated EU-wide.
The EU's medicines watchdog is updating safety warnings for some widely used contraceptives.
