EU Police Bust Cross-Border Hazardous Waste Ring
A joint French-Spanish operation, supported by Europol, has dismantled a network trafficking hazardous demolition waste. Four individuals were arrested in the operation, which targeted the illegal transport of tonnes of waste from France to Spain. Europol facilitated the cross-border cooperation and information exchange between the national authorities. This type of environmental crime poses serious risks to public health and the environment and is an increasing focus for EU law enforcement.
