Corporate sustainability due diligence directive in force
The Directive on corporate sustainability due diligence (Directive 2024/1760) officially entered into force on 25 July 2024. This new legislation aims to promote sustainable and responsible corporate behavior, fostering a just transition towards a sustainable economy within the EU. It requires companies to identify and address adverse impacts of their activities on human rights and the environment. This marks a significant step in holding businesses accountable for their supply chains.
Companies now face legal obligations to ensure human rights and environmental sustainability in their operations.
