EIB & Sabadell Unlock €1B for Spanish SMEs
The European Investment Bank (EIB) Group and Banco Sabadell have launched a €1 billion financing package for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-caps in Spain. The EIB Group is investing €362.5 million in a securitisation deal, enabling Banco Sabadell to provide the larger sum. Notably, the initiative includes a new component to support projects in the security and defence sectors, reflecting a strategic shift in EIB's investment priorities. The funding aims to boost innovation, digitalisation, and green transition projects across the Spanish economy.
