ECB Selects 36 Providers for Digital Euro Pilot
The European Central Bank (ECB) has selected 36 payment service providers to participate in a pilot program for the digital euro. These providers will test different payment scenarios and help refine the technical features of a potential EU central bank digital currency. The pilot is part of the ECB's ongoing investigation phase, which aims to create a secure and accessible form of public money for the digital age. Results from the pilot will inform the final decision on whether to proceed with developing and launching a digital euro.
